Overview

Admiral Taverns is the largest independent tenanted and leased pub company in the UK, with an estate of approximately 2,000 pubs. These are a combination of trading venues and pubs to let.

Through our experienced management team, we offer a wealth of pub retailing expertise, support and exciting opportunities to both experienced licensees and those looking to run their own pub for the first time.

For an introduction to becoming a publican, take a look at this presentation.

Running a pub business will make a huge difference to your life.

It will challenge you, reward you, provide profit and opportunity, bring fun times and difficult decisions. It will demand a lot of your time and attention but will give you great personal satisfaction.

With our experience and your enthusiasm, all the ingredients are in place to make your decision to run an Admiral Tavern the right one for you. Running a pub with Admiral Taverns is an exciting, and challenging prospect and, if you're well prepared and work hard, the satisfaction and rewards will make your efforts worthwhile.

You won’t be alone in trying to make your pub business a success. We are proud of the level of support we provide to our pub landlords, and, with an experienced team of Business Development Managers (BDMs) offering sensible advice whenever you need it, you’ll find us alongside you all the way.

At Admiral Taverns you'll certainly find us well prepared to give you the best possible start. We provide our pub landlords with the foundations to be successful, but, ultimately, it's up to you to make your mark, run it your way and reap the rewards.

To run an Admiral Taverns Pub you will need:

    • The ability to work with people - From customers, staff and neighbours to suppliers and local authorities, you will be at the centre of your pub business, making it all work and keeping everything running smoothly.
    • A solid business sense - Running a pub takes more than just people skills. You will need to ensure you can operate profitably, spot opportunities in your local market and manage your stock and suppliers. See how some of our landlords are successfully running their pubs their way.
    • True commitment - Your pub will demand a complete change of lifestyle, putting in long hours and working hard. Let's not pretend - being a licensee is hard work and there’ll be a real investment of time and money on your part, combined with long hours and occasionally difficult staff to manage.
    • Management skills - Part of running your own pub means that your staff will look to you for leadership, decisions and direction. They will need to be trained, encouraged and sometimes disciplined.
    • The funds to make it happen - Whatever funds you have, we have a pub option to suit you, from easy access community pubs to let that would be ideal for new entrants to the licensed trade, to premier sites for those experienced landlords who have the required level of capital to take them on. Try our pub locator in the “Pubs Available” section of the site for specific examples of the levels of investment required.
