Recognition for charitable landlords

by admin 7/23/2010 9:30:00 AM

A pair of licensees from Accrington who have raised thousands of pounds for charity with their customers' help have been rewarded with our Admiral Taverns Achievement Award.

Stuart Watt, business development manager for Admiral Taverns, was on hand to presented Mick and Lorraine of The Abbey Hotel, Accrington with their certificate at a special gathering at the pub, where the landlords handed over their latest fundraising cheque for £500 to the Broadfield Specialist School in Oswaldtwistle.

Mick and Lorraine will be donating another cheque to Macmillan Cancer Support in September. Keep up the good work, guys!

WaterAid fundraising

by admin 5/25/2010 10:15:00 AM

We’re encouraging our landlords to think about joining in with WaterAid’s fundraising efforts by hosting their own water-themed quiz.

Everyday, one in eight people go without safe water and 4,000 children die from water-related diseases, making this a particularly worthy cause.

All the questions, divided into categories including Geography, Music, Film & TV and History, are available on The Publican’s website, plus lots of other ideas for fundraising activity. The Publican has also linked-up with the organisation for the initiative Tap into WaterAid, which urges pubs to ask for a 15p donation every time a customer asks for water.

Around 150 other pubs have already signed up to get involved in the Tap into WaterAid initiative. For more information, call 0207 7934949 or visit the WaterAid website.

World’s Biggest Pub Quiz

by admin 3/9/2010 1:53:00 PM

We’re supporting The Family Holiday's Association upcoming World’s Biggest Pub Quiz event by encouraging our landlords and customers to get involved.

The charity is organising the nationwide event on Thursday 25 March 2010 to raise funds for their vital work with young families.

If you’re a landlord who wants to arrange your own quiz, then simply go to the website to find out how to set up your own event; you’ll raise much needed funds for the charity and hopefully attract some extra custom to your pub, plus quiz organisers get the chance to win great prizes.

If you’re a punter looking for a local quiz to participate in, you can also search to find the nearest.

Landlords can also take a look at our Licensee support section to discover other entertainment ideas for their pub.

Charity begins at home? (well, Head Office!)

by admin 11/30/2009 8:56:00 AM

Staff at the Admiral Taverns head office have raised over £1,000 in the last 12 months for the animal charity the RSPCA.

On the last Friday of every month staff hold a dress down day and pay one pound each for the privilege of not wearing business attire. It has proved a popular day with staff and is a great way of raising money for worthy causes.

In addition to the dress down days Stephanie Adams from the Admiral licensing team bakes a fantastic array of cakes which are sold to support of Marie Curie Cancer and McMillan Nurses. She has raised over £400 so far! A case of spending £1 and putting a pound on in weight?

Opportunities with Admiral

Charity efforts from Admiral landlords

by admin 11/24/2009 1:59:00 PM

Admiral Taverns landlords have been doing their bit to raise much-needed funds for local charities.

Wendy Sowerby, of the Angel Inn in Coleorton, completed a grueling half marathon and raised over £1,600 for the cancer ward at Burton Hospital (pictured with barman Joe Peace below).

Meanwhile, Alex Fallon, who runs Admiral Tavern’s The Fox pub in Stanton Harcourt cycled from London to Paris – a distance of around 312 miles - in aid of Lupus UK.

Wendy and Alex’s fantastic fundraising efforts typify the kind of people who we look for to run our pubs; people who are committed to their community.
