Admiral landlords hungry for food advice!

by admin 2/10/2010 3:42:00 PM

The Admiral Taverns food team have been busier than usual over the last few weeks - they have been holding events in partnership with the wholesaler Bookers. The food team hold presentations and demonstrations for Admiral Taverns licensees in Booker stores. They can find out about starting food or improving their current offerings, they can see our development chef demonstrate how to prepare some of the foods available from the Bookers range and book free in pub training from our award winning food team.

As well as meeting the Admiral team, Bookers provide advice about their product offering, give the landlords a fascinating in store tour and present the benefits available for Booker customers.

Attendance levels have been fantastic with up to 30 pubs turning up each day. Sam Pedder Head of food at Admiral said "the amount of pub landlords coming to see us is very encouraging, they have show great interest in learning more about food and have been impressed by the expertise and service levels of Bookers staff and the extensive product range that they can provide".

Here is a selection of comments from satisfied Admiral landlords.

- “Found people from both Booker and Admiral very helpful and would recommend all to attend”

- “Helpful tips from the chef thank you”

- “Ideas for menus etc… very good, incentives to use Booker also a good idea”

- “Had a great morning, got some good ideas and now looking forward to starting food, thanks”

The team are halfway through their tour with events at Stoke, Sheffield, Leeds, Gateshead, Ardwick, Haydock and Chester to come!

Charity begins at home? (well, Head Office!)

by admin 11/30/2009 8:56:00 AM

Staff at the Admiral Taverns head office have raised over £1,000 in the last 12 months for the animal charity the RSPCA.

On the last Friday of every month staff hold a dress down day and pay one pound each for the privilege of not wearing business attire. It has proved a popular day with staff and is a great way of raising money for worthy causes.

In addition to the dress down days Stephanie Adams from the Admiral licensing team bakes a fantastic array of cakes which are sold to support of Marie Curie Cancer and McMillan Nurses. She has raised over £400 so far! A case of spending £1 and putting a pound on in weight?

More Rooms At The Inn

by admin 11/9/2009 2:09:00 PM

Many landlords are finding new and creative ways to boost income during the current recession.

A prime example are Barry and Roberta Smith at The Boot in Kimpton, Hertfordshire.  With Admiral's support they've created five bed and breakfast rooms by converting a disused barn at the back of their pub.

Business has boomed since the completion of the development, helping The Boot increase its turnover and appeal to new customers. The pub now has a thriving breakfast trade and is packed out at least three nights a week.

Read Barry and Roberta's story, or find out more details of opportunities with Admiral.
